Bringing Experiences To Commercial Real Estate Via EV

As more people start buying EVs, is it time for brands to start embracing them?

Electric Vehicles have been a huge topic for many different industries, but especially for commercial real estate. From hotels and malls to grocery stores and fitness centers, everyone in this business is taking advantage of the draw EVs have on customers. We've had our own discussions about EVs here, but it seems like we aren't the only one's catching on.

What's Going On With Electric Vehicles In Commercial Real Estate?

CBRE is one of the biggest names in commercial real estate, and they are well known for their segments: Advisory, Global Workplace Solutions, and Real Estate Investments. Even further into the business, CBRE's service lines serve their clients directly and with extreme care. To further its advisory segment, CBRE is launching a new service line, which will advise clients on EV infrastructure and implementation. A company as large as CBRE taking on EVs with this much force just goes to show that EVs are not a trend. EV's are here to stay, and it's in everyone's best interest to get to work implementing them into future sites.

Here at Sites USA we do everything we can do to stay on top of the biggest trends in this crazy industry and provide users with the most relevant data possible. We've watched EV adoption rates grow over the last 5 years - and are expected to keep growing over the next 20 years. Since EVs are expected to be the majority of vehicles on the road by 2030, we are updating REGIS Online with as much information as possible to help brokers and other commercial real estate professionals make informed decisions. In August of 2022, we added EV Chargers to our merchant database, including brands like:

  • Tesla
  • ChargePoint
  • Electrify America
  • EVgo
  • Volt
  • And more!

Who Else Is Taking Over The EV Industry?

When it comes to commercial real estate, we haven't seen a lot of retailers adding EVs to their experience or expansion strategies… yet. But it seems like Subway is looking to change that. The sandwich company is bringing the EV experience to their stores - or more accurately - they're bringing the brand to EV chargers. Select locations will be building the “Subway EV Charging Oasis”, which will be a destination for road trippers and destination drivers alike. These new locations will feature EV chargers, WiFi, restrooms, picnic tables, and playgrounds. Since EVs can currently take between 20 and 45 minutes for a full charge between destinations, these experiential chargers seem to be the best of both worlds for retailers and EV consumers.

Another brand taking on the EV experience? 7-Eleven! And, like Subway, it's just one more brand building brand loyalty earlier, rather than later. However, the convenience store brand 7-Eleven just announced a new charging network for these vehicles, an additional perk for their new experiential locations. These new 7-Eleven locations will allow the retailer to serve a new iteration of customers they've never truly been able to reach before and allow a growing EV audience to develop brand loyalty early on. That's all you can ask for in this business, right?
